That is neat! And as you say, no need to set up a machine.

I have a reasonably economical local supply of WRC, but unfortunately it is only 6' long so I do a lot of scarfing; I need a "production" method. The fastest method I have found is using my bench sander. I rig up a guide at the scarf angle on the feed plate, adjust the feed plate so the scarfs come out square. Setup takes about 5 minutes, the actual cut is only a few seconds but handling and stacking limits me to 4 or 5 scarf ends a minute. Stock section is limited by the disc size, but it handles strips. This is my gluing jig -
