I am having difficult time laying down a complete coat of epoxy that does not contain voids. I have already sealed the wood with a thin coat, then applied the fibreglass and followed with a fill coat so that the weave was filled. Then I laid in the fibreglass tape over the sheer. However, the voids that appear are several millimeters in size with little to no epoxy in them, and sanding the surface smooth removes almost all of the just applied coat. I'm no longer using tack cloths, I'm cleaning with denatured alcohol. When the epoxy goes on it appears to be a very even coat, but hours later when dry, the voids are everywhere. The only time they did not appear is when the batch started setting up in the container, and therefore was applied in a thicker than usual layer. Could I be laying down too thin of a layer? Should I follow up with a roll-on coat when still sticky? I typically start when the shop is 70 degrees but can get it up to 80 if that helps.
The picture shows the result after partial sanding.
Thanks in advance for your tips. Joe
