The time taken to apply a seal coat is measured in minutes, not hours. Of all the tasks involved in building a stripper, applying the seal coat would have to be just about the quickest.

Yeah, but you have to wait for it to go off.

Extra coats of varnish add weight too. I only use three varnish coats. But that is mainly because it is so expensive.

Regarding weight..... The more one paddles the easier it gets to lift the boat. It is a known fact that the only reason some people paddle is to build enough muscle to lift their 250 lb. boat onto the roof of their car.
