So in answer to Rob, trying to understand the theory behind Pygmy's instructions was why I asked my question in the first place. I wanted to find out what I wasn't considering. That's the only complaint I have about the instructions...that they don't explain the reasoning behind what they say to do. I know that's not the purpose of instructions so its not a real complaint, but it is why I found this forum. Then all of you provided what seem to be great advice and approaches that have worked for you. I'm working with System Three epoxy so I have a little more time than the MAS folks. Now Ill go put all of this information into my mental blender and come up with something this morning.

Thanks for all of the info. I'm getting smarter every time I log on!

When you're green you're growning, when you're ripe you rot!

Let's face it, most people, (guys) don't read instructions much (except for old guys like me who don't have a lot of time left to waste) and they want the Cliffs notes (condensed) version to get the job done before the hot bucket of epoxy they just mixed up explodes!

So, if the person writing the instructions (me for LL) gets too involved in things guys should know (there's a gene for that) you could loose your reader fast.

Like, not only do you need to build up layers of epoxy for fill coats, but then you need to explain what crazy stuff epoxy is in the first place, its thick, yet it extremely viscous (runny) but it will not level itself over fiberglass, and the cured wet-out fiberglass is extremely rough, so almost any tool dragging over the surface will create foam or bubbles, I could go on and on, but frankly all the guys have already skimmed this post on are mixing epoxy or drinking beer by now.

BALANCE that's the trick, grasshopper.
