Bill Hamm - You're right, of course. But just as we practically never see a strip hull with a plywood deck, we see so few other hybrid types that the term is pretty much accepted as S&G hull-with-strip deck. And, I can see no no foul if another hybrid mix should happen to pop up, as they seem to about once every ten years or so.

Bohdan Szymanik - I particularly appreciated your comments, and find it interesting where our priorities were flipped; I wanted to lower the sheer first and foremost, then found it exceedingly useful to "take the whole top off" in order to freshen up the glass and epoxy work inside from stem to stern, and render the boat good to go for another god-knows-how-long, and also to clean up installations that were less than neatly done because they had been added after the boat had been completed. My kayak building skills have improved considerably since I originally built her as my second boat, and as a result, one more thing is going to be accomplished that's near and dear to my heart: she is gonna lose weight! I've ground out a ton of excess epoxy & dookie schmutz. My 4" angle grinder has been getting quite the workout lately, lol.
