Please help me identify this CLC design.
Length: 17 feet 7 inches.
Width: 21 inches
I bought this kayak as a “spare” boat in 2007 for $200. It was a great deal, but I hate the way it handles.
The builder told me that it was a CLC design, but she was not sure which design. She did not think it was a Cape Charles. She called it a “performance” design. I think she meant “built for speed.” It may have been built as part of a class at the Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle in the 1990’s.
It has low primary stability, and not enough secondary stability for my tastes. Even moderate waves or chop make it very difficult to paddle this boat. I can only make this boat behave on perfectly flat water.
Please help me identify the design, and tell me just what sort of paddler would appreciate this boat.
Thanks.
