In Response To: Skin-on-Frame: gunwhale scarfs (Gaidheal)

The best answer to the question of where to locate scarf joints is a list of places where they shouldn't be located -

1 Don't put scarf joints adjacent to each other
2 Don't put scarf joints near the locations of maximum bend
3 Don't put scarf joints near the location of maximum stress

#1 is obvious enough, #2 is driven by the shape of the hull and on a small, lightweight #3 usually means keep 'em away from the seat(s) . . .
