Oh yeah btw, using a very soft wood like WRC the paddles indeed can banged up using an oil finish, absolutely. Shows that you're actually using the paddle not just showing it off. Easy to touch up the finish if you have to.

Easy enough to make a new paddle if you have to also, but I've been using my favorite for years and yep it's banged up, works great still too, doesn't need to look perfect to work just fine.
