Here's something to ponder:

Given: Two S&G kayaks, identical design (say hard chined, West Greenland style). Same panel developments and built using identical epoxy, fiberglass lay-up schedule and builder. The only difference: one is made out of 4mm thick okoume plywood. The other is stripped using 4mm thick cedar strips.

Which one would yield a stiffer kayak?

Hmm, given that the primary stiffness would be in the skin on each side of the core and both are equal in skin seperation, there would be little or no difference between the two builds.
