There obviously is no one correct answer for everyone. I prefer a oil finish because of the feel in my hands, not everyone does.

Well, obviously is right, and one of the chief benefits of the home-brewed GP: you tailor it to your own liking. You can, and should, make many of them, and play around with length, shape, finish, and any and all other parameters that may strike your fancy, to eventually arrive to your own perfect paddle.

Bill, at least you're in the majority, from what I see...
