Reg, I was considering the sea anchor as a temporary solution, but I'd prefer something that is quick to deploy and retrieve. The problem with stopping for photos of other boats is that the subjects move out of range so fast that quick and convenient is the order of the day if one is not to end up sheepdogging back and forth all day long.

Does the bow of your kayak turn downwind and down-wave with the aft skeg deployed?

I've noticed that the behaviour of my boats is different when moving vs 'lying ahull' in wind and waves.
