I think the point Paul was trying to make was the hatch lid can be recurved to match the deck shape using internal frames epoxied to the inside of the hatch, will take a bit of trial and error (probably lots of the later) to get the shape right.

But the hatch will seal with the shape matching and likely won't if it doesn't.
