Mitre the joint and cut the dovetails in afterwards with a Japanese saw. I prefer a wider dovetail wedge, but the picture gives the idea. If you cut the wedge a little small you can add a bit of contrasting veneer both sides and at the bottom and get an added bit of eyebrow raising from the uninitiated who can't imagine how it could be possible to go to such trouble.

Of course the wedges are cut and laminated in one long strip and cut into bits. It is easier to make the wedge strip first and then cut the first test slot/slots in the corner of an ordinary block of wood. Once the fit is right it is easy to repeat on the drawer or box corners with an angle gauge. And Japanese saw.

I don't do this stuff any more. I quit furniture many years ago. Too hard in Ireland to raise a family making furniture.
