My wooden hatch leaks too I guess, but I can't see it. Thanks to Kurt Maurer. His 25/1/2011 post makes all the difference. No thick and wide weather stripping. No CLC type hard weather stripping. I did'nt believe it before trying. In fact I have a hybrid Cirrus LT (excellent boat) and made the lip as instructed by Vaclav. Great method, but it leaked a few drops, a spoonful, and the internal bungees were hard for the fingers. Just to try, I choose a very soft weather stripping, round in section, that loosely fit. A very tiny drop of glue keeps the two ends together. You can easily compress it to a millimeter between fingers. To tell the truth, you would'nt trust this material for anything. I don't think it is closed cell foam. But it works incredibly well. If you follow all Kurt Maurer's suggestions (which I did'nt), I guess you'll be able to cross the Atlantic with only an imperceptible leak...
I feel silly typing for the first time in foreign langage on this forum, but I felt this could be important for some of you : no hard, no wide weather stripping. Try it, I doubt I was just lucky..
