The above waterproof magnets are worth the extra cost. The uncoated silver magnets are extremely sensitive to water and will swell and burst unless carefully sealed in epoxy.

hm, considering it more than doubles the cost I don't think that's really necessary. If you have your magnets glued in place with epoxy and protected with an additional layer of glass I can't see how water should get to the magnets (I'd worry a lot more about the wood in this case).
Apart from that, they are in a place usually hidden from the water, anyway…
