You guys need nice round cockpits like many of the original Greenland kayaks, there isn't enough room for the water to pool on them.

Completely agree! The smaller and rounder you can get your coaming, the better the seal on the skirt and less pooling. Keyholes are great for getting in and out, but those two activities are the least time of the whole paddle trip... once you are in, you wanna stay in, and once you are out .... you wanna get back in.... or go get a pizza...

Yeah, I made a Cunningham akuilisaq once (well actually twice, the first one was humongous) but I eventually broke down and spent the money to get a Brooks. Paulo at Comfort Paddling (http://comfortpaddling.net/shop/waterproof-breathables/sprayskirtakuilisaq/) is also offering very nice prices on waterproof breathable versions -- I'd think those would be wonderful as an alternative in warmer weather... for a Greenland cockpit... he makes them for larger openings, but there again the pooling would drive me nuts. I have one of his tuiliks, very well made. (No financial connection with him, just a happy customer.)
