Hi everyone, I'm currently working on my Björn Thomasson Sea Racer, trying to break the 12Kg barrier. Finished hull weight is 6,7 Kg so far, so things are still looking good.
I noticed on my Night Heron that the bulkheads added quite a bit of weight. Also, after I joined deck and hull they seemed to dent the curve of the boat very slightly. And last but not least, yes I am aware of the discussion of soft vs hard bulkheads and the risks involved.
So I was wondering if I could just laminate bulkheads out of glass or maybe kevlar with no added core material. It would yield a relatively flexible layer that works a bit like a foam bulkhead with the purpose of sealing the boat ends but not adding (unnecessary) stability – all at a lower weight than foam or stiff laminates…

What do you think? Good or bad idea?
