I actually have given thought to starting a production kayak building business (carbon/kevlar) here in the VI where I would get a tax break if I hired enough people, but logistics is an issue.
I wonder if a contributing factor to the demise of Royalex was the cost of petroleum. Is it a petroleum-based product? There are soy products out there. Maybe one could "go green" and save money too. Perhaps what is needed is a new innovation rather than taking over the existing failed company. If you took it over certainly you would need to know why it failed and how you would fix it.
