Good idea, but it is tricky (in my experience) to get the bulkhead in the right place. Do you install it after joining hull & deck and installing seat and thigh hooks/pads?
There must be a remarkable similarity in leg length in your circle of friends!
;-)

I've had Beckson screw-in hatches in quite a few (Mariners + one home-built) kayaks and I found they were magnets for grit, and easily jammed. On my Outer Island, I installed a Beckson screw-in in the fwd bulkhead to make it possible to access the end of the footbrace rails. I epoxied a wood 'handle' to the screw-in to make it easier to turn, with my arm(s) through the front deck hatch. I definitely couldn't turn it at arms length (via cockpit) in a boat with a full-size cockpit. With the small cockpit on the OI, the bulkhead is beyond reach anyway.

I agree those bulkheads are very tricky to get right and creates an inordinate amount of extra time having fun in the boat shed. The idea is that I won't have to carry the foot braces every time I lift it.I install before deck joining and also use the shear clamp method.prep is everything, especially if it extends shed time.

Friends! way off subject but...
I am lucky to have one or two that actually like going to places where I like to paddle. My definition of "friends",so far is they either have to be shorter than me so packing foam can accommodate their shorter reach or [true friends] make their own boats.

I also like to have options through my bulkheads.I store my Greenland paddle out of site in the forward compartment[s] and access it through those two holes in my "sock box" which have screw in covers that are a bit tight sometimes. The "o" ring gets displaced and my socks get damp when I fall out but.Actually, I put my beer [but not Guiness] in there and it works real well and is within easy reach when the calling comes.
cheers from Paul.
