You're going to need a nearly rigid framework to handle the stresses since the skin just keeps the water out. Not by a long shot impossible, just will take some work.

Boat builders have gotten used to monocoupe structures where the skin takes at least a fair portion of the load, but it wasn't always that way, the original designs with the substantial framework carried a large portion of the stresses and while the skin helped it didn't carry a large portion.
