I at one time had a sailing canoe, was a challenge. 13 or 14' mast height on a 17' long canoe with under 3' beam, took a fair amount of hiking to keep it upright.

An epoxied frame I'd assume would work fine, might take some corner blocking to increase the glue area and perhaps somewhat stronger frames in the way of the mast and cross arms (amas) but otherwise should be strong enough if the sizes of the members were keep reasonable in size and lots of filets were used.
