Off Topic: Poor tracking Kayak

Hi all, I just purchased a plastic boat as a temp until I can build a "real" kayak for my wife. The boat we bought tracks terribly. I think that it is designed for paddling down calm rivers, not on a lake. Each paddle stroke causes the boat to turn to the opposite side. Would putting a Skeg just behind the cockpit help to improve the tracking of such a boat I am just looking for a temporary fix for a paddling outing this weekend. Will be looking for another boat to use until I get the wife's boat built.

Thanks for the help, my wife is quite "unhappy " with this boat understandably.
