Actually the Bullet is about as hard to stand up on as a K1!

Well I almost didn't reply because nothing ever reads on the net the way you intended it to. I don't want to be labeled as the defender of SUp's. The funny thing is that I downright hated the things until I tried one. I was amazed at the workout I got. I also feel a lot safer around the ferry boats on a SUP, and it may be unfounded, but I feel more visible in our 4-6 foot seas and like the ability to see over waves easier. Other than that, I prefer the kayak for open water just because that's where it is at home, and it is faster than most SUP's. the ones it is not faster than are pure race and not for day paddling.

Good call-out on our friends with paddles, but I need you to spend a day with my friend at his rental shack and see what he deals with. "Don't go over there- it's windy, rocky, and dangerous." Two minutes later, where do you think they are? Yep. "Over there." There is a reason we name that reef "indigestion."

The best ever was actually a trimaran sailing kayak renter. My friend asked if he had ever sailed before. He replied, "No, but my uncle owns a motorbike." You tell me, because I have no clue what that had to do with can he sail.
