Ok, so you do have the double ,so you have a special set of problems. seat placement, you really need to put it in the water first. If you weigh a lot more than your wife then the further you sit back the more you will have to cram her forward. So you have to find a happy medium between moving yourself forward and not clashing paddles. Once that is sorted out then sit in it by yourself and figure out where your third mounting station will be. Just throw padded foam cushions it there to start. can even by done in a pool . footrests come later. I would not rig this kayak until this is done. heres the deal it has a huge cockpit that sits close to the waterline compared to a standard canoe,so you are not going to take it out in real rough conditions, water will come over the coming lip. and the flood area is large. a spray skirt is not used on this craft. so the safest thing to do and way more important than lines, is to cut that flood area down. use a bulkhead behind the rear of the coming. use another in lieu of the front foot pegs. not to worry your will still need two more sets of foot pegs,one for you when in double mode and one for single mode.

USE INSPECTION PLATES THAT SCREW IN THE BULKHEADS DO NOT CUT THE DECK UP!

Here is why a recommend taking it out first before rigging. the cockpit is large and easy to grab from the water, no lines needed there . do use toggles from the get go. You are going to find this is a very stable boat and if you do flip it getting the water out is a shoreline activity.float bags will simply let to much water in concentrate on the bulkheads at first. here is the secret you are not going to flip it in rough water because you should not be in those conditions and it is stable on flat water where it belongs.
