The Chesapeake 16 I built for my wife has a significant weathercocking issue, like a dog whose hind legs try to pass the front ones.

I want to try adjusting the trim before making any major modifications, I just can never remember whether to add weight to the bow or stern to address this issue. Can someone please refresh my memory?

Not everybody works with the same definitions.

For example, getting the weight too far forward can result is a sort of 'oversteer' when paddling/turning, irrespective of the wind.

BTW, a lot of people feel that weathercocking is 'the lesser of two evils', as it's hard (impossible?) to design a boat that will be wind-neutral in different load and wave conditions.

Paddling technique/skill (and even body position to some extent) does enter into the equation as well.
