easy may to remove the teflon tape that I wrapped around the tubing to keep the epoxy from sticking when I made the Maroske fittings.

Andy, You say you used tubing rather than glue sticks, correct. When I made my fittings I use plastic tubing with a piece of wire placed inside to maintain shape. I coated the outside of the tube with petroleum jelly as suggested by someone here on this forum. This method worked very well and the tubing was easily removed with a little heat from my heat gun. I know that I haven't answered your question but this may help with your next build, After all a tandem is great with two paddlers but not so much if you want to do a solo paddle.
