Thanks for all the advice. I wouldn't really care about the Teflon tape left in the holes except the deck is mahogany and dark WRC so the white tape really contrast with the surrounding wood. I wound several layers around the tubing (the black rubber automotive tubing recomended by someone on this site, pulled out easy btw, held shape well) and the layer next to the epoxy is really stuck. Just have to use some elbow grease and improvised tools, pipe cleaners, ect. Or I can just move on to the next part of the project and not sweat it!
I've always wanted to build a strip boat of some sort since my younger college days. Since then my wife and I have done a lot of extended touring out of sea kayaks. We get along great and found we like to paddle doubles, no we don't fight! So when I finally found inspiration to start a kayak I found plans for a double baidarka from Rob Macks. There are not many double kayak plans out there and when I saw the baidarka style I was hooked! I have a very busy life so it's taken a couple years to get to the point of joining the fiber-glassed top to the hull. I check this forum regularly and it's been an awesome resource. Thanks everyone! Ill provide a link to some pix soon.
