I'm looking at a new build, and Njord looks pretty appealing. But in reading Bjorns website/building manual, I see he does it a bit differently than I'm used to - External strongback, no gluing until the hull is stripped, and then simply coating with epoxy, before moving on to sanding/fairing the hull. I know a few here have built his boats (Dan, you there?) - do you follow the same lay-up, or have your own technique? It's easier to 'do what I know', but I'd like to do it 'right', and guess I can stand to learn something new.

I built a Frej, which is a bit similar to the Njord. I was planning from the outset to paint the boat, which affected my choices during construction. I also always use staples for woodstrip projects.
I used most of Bjorn's construction technique (square-edge strips for the most part, stapled 'dry', epoxy brushed on afterward) but didn't have the courage to epoxy over the staples, so I epoxied those areas after pulling the staples.

If you plan to finish the hull 'au naturel' with the wood showing, and are 'particular' about appearance, then fitting and gluing the strips in the more usual way may work better. I found some tricky areas around the cockpit and sheer where I was glad I could use filler/epoxy. That said, there are some good-looking clear-finished boats at BJ's website.
