Hi,

No doubt someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I think that even with the two part formulation, exposure to air helps catalyze the polymerizing (perhaps the exposure is to trace amounts of water vapor, I am not sure). At any rate, the pot time is much longer than the set time in a thin coating. As I recall, this is stated in the instructions on the material I used (Interlux two part polyurethane).

However, if I was leaving material in a gun for a while, I would use the recommended solvent to clean the outside of the nozzle though to make sure that any residue from spraying does not set up around the exposed parts of the needle valve.

That said, I will beat the dead horse one more time, and this is not aimed at any particular poster, just to interested builders in general - please, do not even think about spraying this stuff without the proper gear. It is really, really dangerous if you are not properly protected. Read the material safety data information on any two part polyurethane product, and heed it well. Isocyanates are a whole different kind of risk, nothing remotely like the other stuff we normally deal with in the way of adhesives and coatings.
