Strip: Bonding deck to hull *PIC*

After struggling with the bonding of the deck to the hull in previous builds,
on my Solo microBootlegger I used a different technique to make the bonding easier.
I made the first shear strips on both the deck and the hull 3/4” thick,
with a tongue-and–groove down the center.
Actually, 1/4”x1/4” slots with a 1/4”x1/2” spline bonded into the hull shear strip slot
before attaching the deck.
Round the top of the spline to make assembly easier.
The tongue-and-groove aligns the deck to the hull, but even more important is
the 1/2” flange all the way around the kayak that is clamped to make the joint tight.
The picture shows a top view of the clamping.

You still must use spreader strips after glassing or alignment will be a nightmare.
Dry fit the deck to the hull before bonding to be sure it fits together.
I used 3/4" PVC tubing with an adjustable threaded coupler on the inside of the deck
where it needed to be widened a little so that it fit the hull.
