I didn't answer your question. 8' pieces would work well to build most any stripper canoe or kayak. I prefer 8 to 10 footers as they are easier to move around my shop. Butt joining the ends is fine for these small boats as most (all?) of the load applied to the finished hull is carried in the fiberglass skins. I scarf with a 9:1 angle only those strips at and near the shear line and keel line.

I cannot get over that price. Where are you located? Is this a deal only for you, or can some of the rest of us take advantage of it?
