There is going to be glue in the backside gap near the outside surface.
If you went to a sharp edge on one strip only contacting at the outside surface, you will sand into the glue, leaving some amount of a wider line.
Is the outside surface pretty smooth? little to removed for fairing?

You can make sure of strength by using filled epoxy, and give yourself a smooth surface on the inside for the glass to lay down smoothly.

Only you can judge the risk of the "gap" opening up on the outside, and how much you are willing to tolerate.

If you keep what you have and get a wider than you want outside line you can take a triangular riffler file and file down a groove on the outside, then cut a sliver to glue in place. Perhaps you can find a piece of wood that will minimize the color difference. This kind of repair can be done several times until you are satisfied or just give up.
