I was into model aircraft, the flying variety. I'm sure a lot of kayak and canoe builders started out like that, there's a connection somehow, small parts, lightness, functionality from a few bits and one's hands. I too built a few kits to start with but then I built my own designs, many of which disappeared into the clouds never to be seen again. You'd think I'd be sad about that, but I saw it as a good end for a good model . . . and it gave me the motivation to build another!
