Do not know the price now. Cannot find any supplier of black poplar boards. I did buy 9 boards think 22 mm, long 5.20 m and wide 18 cm + 1 board Oregon wide 35 cm thick 30 mm long 5.20 m for €170.
The supplier was http://www.haalhout.nl She started it as a hobby and only sells inland grown wood. It was a bargain.

In making the deck I will be more careful with excessive glue and remove it with a wet rag.

Yes I have 5 kayaks hanging in the shop. 2 made by myself (S&G Guillemot and Night Heron) en 3 polyester boats which I use with my grandsons. Number 6 will be the Fire Star.
Here in the Netherlands people will not spend much money for kayaks. The mostly buy Rota mold boats which are rather cheap. A kayak friend gave me his boat because he could not sell it for more than €300,--. He immigrated to France after retirement and wanted a good user for his boat. It is a design which cannot be used without the skeg. With skeg up you can only paddle backwards. It has a very sharp bow and a very flat stern.
