OK so now comes a little confession. I have built four strip beveled kayaks with less than three sixteenth inch thick strips . in two places on two of the petrels i have seen the tiny stress fractures mentioned by the cove and bead devotee. The fractures are no longer than a inch and look like a slight stressing of the glass weave. In both cases it was on a glue joint on the flat area of the bottom(near my rear).The bottom of the petrels take a beating when waves wash me up on the shoreline.
