Where did the foam come from? I don't usually see closed cell that's sandable in blue.

Most people use that one grey type for any carving work.

I used epoxy to attach velcro to the boat like Don mentioned. Sand both surfaces. I used the hardware store 5 min epoxy in the twin cylinders. I made some straps to hold a pump and it gets soaked regularly and never broke loose.
