Strip: Non Cove and Bead question

I've read in a couple of places that you can or should bevel the edges of the strips to 3 deg if you're pursuing this method. If you've tried it, what was your experience. I'm looking for it to save some time. I'm building the Great Auk and it's not to "curvy", so I thought I would try this.
