I wasn't able to look at this (at work) but 3D glass as I know it does not replace core. You still have to have a thicker skin than with core, so the weight is higher.

3D will make the skin tougher in some ways, but will generally reduce the strenth in the plane of the laminate. The 3D fibers take the place of some of the in plane fibers.
