I built a kids boat for my son when he was small, and It was amazing how fast he grew out of it.

In the end I built him one of these to continue. It is usable by medium sized adults too. Very light weight.

The advantage with this boat is that the hull at the waterline is quite narrow if it is used by a child and is consequently very low drag. In addition, there is a lot of flare in the hull and secondary stability is really good. An adult will displace more and the wl will be wider. So still stable. A very fun little boat for adults to use in rough seas for playing around.

The design length is 14 ft, but I have stretched them to 15 ft. I also reduce the height of the rear deck from the planned height, as well as reducing the cockpit size. Adding bulkheads can be a real bonus too.

The design does not need glass sheathing, just taping.
