Pretty unusual! :-)
And very skilful - reminds me of the furniture finishers I watched in India - everything ended up 'Rosewood' !

Was the painting done on the outside of the hull (& clear-coated) or inside the mold over clear gelcoat?

What kind of paint was used to stand up to the other parts of the chemistry set?
