I stand corrected: Nick describes this sequence in his second book, not in his first. I read the second book more carefully, and I purchased it before I bought his first book.
As Et points out, you can make most any order of construction work out, as long as you make allowances for what is going on. If you glass the exterior hull first as I do, you will need to insert a separating agent (wax paper) between the hull and deck when you glass the deck. I must admit that the first boat I built, I dropped to the floor (ala Car-Talk brothers dropping the car off the lift) as I was moving the boat and other projects around my shop. If it had been glassed first, I would not have had all of the repair work that event ultimately entailed.
