Can the typical cedar strip such as what CLC sells in their kits be comfortably bent in a 45-50" diameter circle without breaking it? I am considering a non-boat project, that would essentially be a 10" wide strip (maybe 12 or so wood strips wide) formed into a wheel.

Would I need to steam them or just bending in a circle and glassing on one or both sides would be enough to hold a circle in shape? There will be no spokes, and probably only one or two reinforcing rings made of a second layer of one or two strips. The contraption should be able to support about 20lb only in a 40" segment, where it should hold it's shape pretty close to a circle under load (as it will be rotating slowly on top of a base with two pairs of roller skate wheels under it), the rest of it will have no load.

Lastly, jig ideas? Our not so fancy dining room round table happens to be of the right diameter, but unless I am confident I won't damage it and can finish in a couple of weeks of no more than an hour a day, I doubt I'd get approval to use it as a jig. Plus, I'm not sure how to rig it - it is not flat and vertical on the edges, instead, just the thin top with a rounded edge protrudes a couple of inches outside of a flat vertical 3" smaller circle. I suppose I could turn it over and would have a nice jig for 3-4 strips at a time ...
