Hi Guys... Haven't been on this forum for a while, build a couple of kayaks with most all your help & thank Ya all.
However, I have a project in the works that I know several of you guys can help me with.
Making a re-curve bow out of Zebra Wood & am now shaping the riser with a sanding drum after using an
over arm router to rough shape it.
My problem is that 60 sec of sanding, the wood begins to burnish & soon the rubber melts into the sandpaper.
I'm keeping the wood moving & only touching the the drum only for a few sec. at a time! Is Zebra THAT hard?
Sand paper is 60 grit, standard stuff I have used for years on Oak & Maple. But I'm making no progress at all
on this wood.
Is there a different method I should be using to shape Zebra? Or a different sandpaper that can take it?
