Many basic principals of boat design are easily overridden by a skilled paddler. In all boat design, the propulsion is always a major consideration. The same holds true for turning. Kayakers are a unique form of propulsion. We can lean and edge our kayaks to force turns where no other boat does that. A kayak with a lot of rocker and soft round edges may not turn as easily as one with a harder chine in the hands (paddle) of a skilled paddler who know how to edge the boat. To some paddlers, this is a far more valuable asset than rocker itself. It all goes back to trying the kayak and see how it feels for the skills you have of like to use. With most first time builders, almost all kayaks will give a lifetime of total enjoyment and you can always build or buy another to please your advancing skills of desires. Some people just build kayaks that roll real easy. I think having everything is more a state of mind than it is in any kayak and I've seen good paddlers make any kayak dance.
