I used these VKV deck fittings on a S&G Night Heron: http://www.vitudden.com/deck_fit_uk.php They were easy to install and I haven't had any issues with them in the 6 years since I built the boat.

I E-mailed the company and found that they had a distributor near Buffalo, NY. This was about 6 years ago so I don't know the status of the distributor today.

Take a look at the deck rigging on some British boats to see how it is arranged.
