On my currently stalled first build, I had a few gaps on the hull. Most of these I was able to fill by gluing planed shavings, or stacks of shavings into the gaps. For a particularly wide gap on the keel line, I cut two pieces of scrap and glued them together so the grain matched the chevron pattern along the keel line (attached picture). I sanded this down to fit the gap, glued it in place, and sanded it smooth. Details of all my hull patching are available at http://timskayaking.blogspot.com/
