Hi guys,
Am well progressed on Bjorn Thomasson spindrift - about to start sanding to get ready for varnish and cockpit fit out. So the reason for this build is because my trusty north star is getting heavy due to lots of use and stoney shorelines round here - meaning I have neglected its upkeep.
I used 2 part varnish all around which is good stuff but not man enough on bottom of hull in my mind and pain in the rear to to repair due to mixing precisely in tiny amounts.
So launch the spindrift while I dry out and refurbish the NS is the plan.
What therefore is best hull finish for a ski ? In theory should not have grounding scars because I won't have to beach to get on and off and it's all sea paddling around here so no nasty river surprises to worry about.
I was thinking along the lines of bow/stern keelstrips and a below waterline of marine paint - so if there was minor scratches they would be a whole lot easier to touch up
Could also do the graphite/silica mix thing but am sceptical on the graphite sliding over impact theory but folks seem to be getting decent results with it and easy to touch up....
Any thoughts?
Tx
