I am in the process of buying some wood for my first kayak build (Guillemot).

As an absolute beginner I am getting confused about how the dimensions works. I can source 5.4M (about 17 feet) long pieces of WRC. These are 30cm (12 inch) wide and 19mm (3/4 inch) thick.

I am planning to buy a table saw to do the stripping. I understand I need to cut the 30cm strip into smaller widths however how do I reduce the wood thickness from 19mm to say 6 mm. Does the table saw do this or do I need to find different wood? Any help would be appreciated.

The wood thickness becomes the width of the strip. While the width of the strips you cut becomes the thickness. 19mm is a good width for the strips. You may want to rip a few down to 13mm for tighter turns and bends, but you can probably live with them all being 19mm. For the cuts, you probably want somewhere between 6mm and 5mm strips.

So you want to have strips that are 5.4meters x 6mm x 19mm. If you you are doing a rolling bevel I would go with 5.4meters x 5mm x 19mm.

Think of it this way, the flat sides of the board will end up being the sides of the strips, while the thickness will end up being the top and bottom.
