I mounted a backjoy seat in my last kayak (not made for kayaks but works great). The wood one looks a lot nicer but the price is right and it has a little padding. I glued 1/4 inch closed foam on the bottom to increase the padding and lift it just a bit. I agree that you want a seat that allows for mobility of the back. It is by far the best seat I have used.
