The plastic clamps don't rust and nothing used in a wooden boat sticks to them, but mine have hinged jaws and they turn inside out at the drop of a hat - usually at the drop of an epoxy pot. So the one-handed clamp devolves to a two-handed clamp just when you can't handle it. The medium sized plastic clamps are the most useful, the really tiny ones have so little clamping pressure they are virtually useless and the clothes pegs do better and are cheaper, but the pegs only open 1/2 - 5/8" . I do have some steel ones but the springs are so strong I have problems using them with one hand these days.
